Bringing over 50,000 people every year to a town of little over 6,000, The Theatre delivers a year-round programme of theatre, comedy, music, film and participatory activities for audiences across the region. More recently, we have grown as a producing house, creating three major productions each year and growing a stronger and more loyal audience as a result.

Our customer welcome is a key part of our success. Full of character, knowledgeable about the work we host, and deeply rooted in the local community, our front of house team consists of 2-3 established posts, a number of paid casual bar staff, and a large pool of hard-working volunteer ushers.
We are recruiting for a confident, warm and welcoming person to join our team as Deputy House Manager. This role is a mixture of administrative work, managing our volunteer Ushers, Duty Management of performances and servicing/stocking The Theatre’s bar. It is a full time role, with flexible hours to include a decent proportion of evening and weekends. Some additional hours can be added should this be suitable for both parties.
The role would suit a recent graduate and we will always consider people with very little experience.

Toby Carvery Marches into Charity Partnership with The Royal British Legion

Toby Carvery Marches into Charity Partnership with The Royal British Legion

Toby Carvery is delighted to announce its charity partnership with The Royal British Legion, which it will be supporting with fundraising initiatives over the next two years.

Toby Carvery’s across the UK will be taking part in the fundraising initiative, adding a special charity pudding to their menus with 25p from each pudding sale being donated to The Legion. The jam and coconut sponge was voted for by Toby Carvery’s fans on Facebook to be the official charity pudding and received over 500 entries.

Toby Carvery aims to raise £100,000 for The Royal British Legion by the end of 2018, and is encouraging everyone to tuck into a pudding and get involved in local fundraising activities to help support this great cause.

Martin Gosling, Brand Operations Director for Toby Carvery comments: “We couldn’t be happier to support The Royal British Legion and have this great cause as our brand charity partnership throughout the year. The Legion’s cause is close to both employees and guests of Toby Carvery up and down the country, and we can’t wait to start fundraising to support both past and current members of the Armed Forces as well as their families.”

The money raised will be used to support active, and veteran members of the Armed Forces and their families, remembering those fallen in the line of duty and ensuring their memory lives on, and that those left behind are fully supported within their community.

Claire Rowcliffe, Director of Fundraising at The Royal British Legion said, "We’re incredibly pleased that Toby Carvery has chosen to support The Royal British Legion. We look forward to working together in a unique partnership, raising much-needed funds that will help us to continue our work providing vital support to the Armed Forces community.”

As well as fundraising initiatives, Toby Carvery is giving back to Armed Forces and their families by partnering with the Defences Discount Card which gives Armed Forces members, spouses and veterans 10% off their food bill.  As the official discount service for the Armed Forces, the Defence Community and Veterans, the card is also available to members of the community not previously supported, including spouses and partners of serving personnel.

Over 100,000 cards are currently in circulation across the UK since the launch, and this number is continuing to grow on a monthly basis.

Thames Valley Alert - National terrorism threat raised to critical

Last night the Prime Minister confirmed that the national terrorist threat has been raised to critical.  This means that an attack remains highly likely but a further attack may be imminent. At this time there is no intelligence to suggest a specific threat to the Thames Valley.

Our priority is to protect the communities of the Thames Valley and visitors to our area. Overnight we have put in place additional armed and unarmed officers at key locations. This is very much focused on crowded places, including transport hubs and shopping centres.

Do not be alarmed if you see more armed police officers both on foot and in vehicles.  For operational reasons we are not confirming details of locations, tactics and numbers of police officers on duty to ensure the effectiveness of our deployments.

We will continue to work with our partners and event organisers to assess the planned events where we may need to enhance our presence.

Deputy Chief Constable John Campbell said:
“I would like to reassure you that the move to critical is something that we prepare for. We will continually review our deployments and take all possible steps to keep people safe within Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire.
